You’ve probably heard of TruTrak, the leading autopilot maker for light aircraft of many descriptions. You’ve probably heard of Levil, certainly so if you employ and iPad or other tablet to assist your flying. Now consider ECO a new autopilot that boasts some great qualities: lighter weight, easier installation, lower cost … but that’s not all. ECO also allows something called AP or Automatic Envelope Protection and that’s where Levil enters the autopilot picture. This video will provide many more details on this cutting-edge technological development.

Is the ECO available for purchase now, or not?
Dan Johnson says
Eco from TruTrak was discontinued long ago. However, this article about Levil Aviation has more recent info on a new and improved version or the original idea.

What is the status of the Trutrak ECO. I am not seeing anything about it on their website nor any videos past about 2016???
Dan Johnson says
Hi Scott: TruTrak appears to have dropped or at least delayed this project, apparently to focus on certified products. Their Eco was a very cool idea but they either didn’t find demand or wanted to go other directions. Being a very simple system, it was headed toward a very affordable product and low price (combined with aviation’s low volumes) may have disincentivized them. Sad, but the change in direction seemed abrupt.

Does TruTrak make a universal installation kit for their “Eco” model or are they just selling to the RV owners at this time? I’d like to install one on my project.
Dan Johnson says
Hi John: That is an excellent question, one I will forward to main man, Andrew Barker. I’ll give him your email and ask him to copy me so I can include his response in a future comment. My guess is that he and TruTrak mean for Eco to be installed on any number of aircraft, not just RVs, although that is a ripe market for anyone catering to the homebuilt community.
