The Sadler Vampire is a new-old design. It’s new to those attending airshows today, but we saw this design as a single seater many years ago. For a while it found military applications but is now returning as a fully-built (or kit) aircraft with Special Light-Sport Aircraft approval in progress. Vampire has the most unusual and compact folding wing design of any LSA.

Who and what company owns the Sadler vampire designs now? Last I heard a company in Australia but no news about who this aircraft got sold or assigned to. . .
Dan Johnson says
Sadler is now under the business name Wedgetail Aviation in Australia.

Hi Dan. Thanks for doing these videos and reporting during Air Venture and Sun-n-fun. I love the two person design and would like to find this aircraft. Also. Do you know of a single seat version. I am looking for the fuselage only for a science project. Thanks.
Dan Johnson says
Hi Thomas: Vampire is long out of business. Unless someone else picks up this design (I’m not hopeful), I doubt you will find one. Regrets…

Hi Dan,
Any news about the Vampire aircraft ?
I saw your video around 3 Pr 4 years ago, but also last year and just now.
Does the aircraft it is on production?
I’m planning to be on sun and fun next year I’m want to see the possibility to buy this bird.
Dan Johnson says
Hi Luis: Sadly (no pun intended), no. Someone else talked about taking over this project but that apparently never happened. Bill Sadler got busy doing drone or UAVs and seemed to have moved on. If your interest is especially keen, I do know someone who used to be close to Bill.
Curt says
Are there any other airplanes similar too the vampire?
Dan Johnson says
I know of no aircraft that closely emulates Bill Sadler’s Vampire. Depending on what you like about it, you may find other aircraft that can suit your needs.
Keith Kie says
Yeah you do Dan, the “SONG” is very similar to the Vampire 🙂
Dan Johnson says
Hi Keith: Song has its similarities but is really quite different than Vampire.
