Lycoming is the storied aircraft engine brand name that even predates aircraft as you’ll hear in this interview with the company’s Mike Kraft. Lycoming has worked closely with Renegade Light Sport aircraft company in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and that is now paying off with installations in more and more LSA. Optimized for use in Light-Sport, the O-233 has lost some 40 pounds and is raring to go even while sustaining its 2,400 TBO.
W. M. Turner says
Is the IO 233 available now and how much does it cost?
Dan Johnson says
Hi W.M.: Yes, Lycoming is selling the O-233. Go here for details and pricing.

That url doesn’t work anymore and I can’t find it on Wikipedia either (the url there is broken too). Could it be https://www.lycoming.com/node/17608 and if so where could I possibly find more information?
Dan Johnson says
This address for the Lycoming O-233 seemed to work fine. FYI, Lycoming has only a very minor presence in Light-Sport Aircraft, Sport Pilot Kits, and none in ultralights.
fatsportpilot says
Thanks. That has very little detail, where is the operating handbook with stats like compression ratio and displacement? I’m doing research on engines and I can’t find it.
Dan Johnson says
Did you try contacting Lycoming?
